REM 2016 PRE-CONFERENCE EVENT Sunday October 16 | 3:00 PM

AT&T Ballpark Green Glove Tour

Visit the country's greenest ballpark! AT&T Park—home of the San Francisco Giants—has won numerous awards for its innovative use of technology and groundbreaking sustainability practices.

The tour will begin at The Yard, which features re-purposed shipping containers and water-filling stations to encourage the use of reusable bottles. We’ll cross the historic Lefty O'Doul Bridge and stop along the Portwalk to see the free bicycle parking and ferry stop. AT&T is one of the most transit friendly ballparks in the country and—through a partnership with PG&E—the first to have a solar array.

We’ll enter the ballpark through the Dugout Store, then walk up the Willie Mays ramps to Promenade Level, which houses the famous Green Gilroy Garlic Fries concession stand. The Giants, in partnership with PG&E, maximize energy efficiency by reducing oil consumption and cutting utility costs.

Next up is the Garden: a 4,000+ square-foot edible garden that provides fruits and vegetables year round. It also serves as an outdoor classroom where Bay Area youth learn about sustainability, urban farming, and healthy eating.

On the Service Level, we’ll visit the Recycling Center. AT&T Park boasts an over 94% waste-diversion rate. On the Club Level we’ll learn that much of the lighting in the ballpark has been upgraded to LED, and the stairwells are fitted with sensors, which turn the fixtures off to a minimal light level when not in use.  Next we’ll visit the Green Glove display case, proudly demonstrating the park's LEED Certification and the Green Glove Award, earned for leadership in waste diversion.

Finally we’ll visit the field to learn about the cutting-edge technology used for saving water and as well as energy for the scoreboard.
