Call for Abstracts
The Renewable Energy Markets 2010 conference program is shaping up, but there's something missing: your great presentation.

Please review the Call for Abstracts. We have identified a few topics that we'd like to have addressed by the best and brightest in the industry...that means you and your company!

In order to maximize useful information and informed exchange, we'd like presentations to be 10 to 12 minutes, featuring new data or ideas, considered exposition of important issues and, most importantly, fresh thinking about where renewable energy markets are headed in these exciting times.

The Conference Organizers invite submission of presentation abstracts in the following subject areas:

MARKETING AND CLAIMS
New information about market trends, customer perceptions of clean energy, sustainability and climate change strategies. Best practices for messaging to increase sales.

Messaging and Marketing that Works
Case studies on messaging and marketing strategies that help to increase renewable energy sales. Discussions and presentations about the interplay of media and perception as well as using social media tools.

Customer Trends and Profiles
An overview of today’s green power customers.  Trends on consumer perceptions of renewable energy and climate change

Scaling Up Neighborhood by Neighborhood
Strategies for outreach, marketing, and implementation of door-to-door and whole neighborhood energy efficiency retrofits and green power sales.

Best Practices for On-site Solar Claims
Safe claims for businesses, developers and households that install solar.  How to avoid potential pitfalls if selling RECs from a facility.

UTILITIES
Focus on case studies of successful marketing efforts for green pricing programs, utility outreach and clean resource procurement.  Identifying the interactions between compliance programs (e.g., RPS/efficiency mandates with voluntary programs).

Balancing RPS and Green Pricing Program Commitments
Insights, opportunities and challenges for utilities that operate a voluntary green power program in a state that also has a renewable portfolio standard.

Growing Utility Green Power Programs
Case studies on new utility products and novel program ideas.  How to go beyond the basics to market and build a successful green pricing program. New utility climate (carbon-mitigation) products.

POLICY
Focus on how regulatory policy and pending legislation at state and federal levels will influence direction and growth of markets and investments.

Renewable Energy Regulation Update
The latest developments for state and federal renewable portfolio standards, feed-in tariffs, and solar carve-outs.

The Implications of Cap-and-Trade Programs for Renewable Energy Markets
How might regional and federal cap-and-trade programs for carbon affect existing renewable energy markets? How voluntary renewable energy is treated in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) through set-asides.

Regional Impacts of a Federal RES
Projected and modeled regional effects of a federal renewable electricity standard (RES). Competition and synergy with existing state renewable energy commitments.

PURCHASERS
What buyers need and how they obtain it. Case studies of internal/external messaging and how to communicate your environmental commitment to customers of your products and services.

Messaging for Purchasers
Case studies of how buyers market their renewable energy purchase.  Naysayers and messaging that doesn't work.

Community-Based Programs
Case studies of Mayors and communities that are implementing city-wide challenges for renewable energy.  What works and how RECs can play a part.

College Commitments to Renewable Energy
How universities are leading the way for renewables and future generations.  Case studies on campaigns targeted towards students and college campuses.

On-site Renewables versus RECs
Case studies on companies that choose to install renewable energy on-site versus those that choose to purchase RECs.  An exploration of messaging and customer ideologies.

MARKETS AND TRADING
New platforms and practices, exchanges, auctions, brokerages and tracking systems.

Market Growth Opportunities
Tapping in to new avenues for renewable energy sales, such as LEED requirements and GHG disclosure requirements for federal agencies.

GHG Accounting and RECs
Case studies and policies about how renewable energy and RECs are treated in GHG Inventory Systems.  How to leverage GHG accounting requirements for REC sales.

Scaling Up Solar PV Implementation
Case studies on aggregation and solar communities, and a look at next generation procurement models.

Renewable Markets: Interaction with Carbon Offsets
Opportunities and challenges selling carbon offsets versus RECs, and market trends for renewable-energy derived carbon offsets.

Voluntary and Compliance Renewable Energy Markets
An overview of market trends, drivers, barriers, and impacts.  Case studies on sourcing and supply as well as wholesale and broker issues.  Legal and contract issues comparing voluntary and compliance requirements.

COMPLIANCE MARKETS

RPS Program Evaluation
Beyond compliance with the RPS requirements (i.e., the number of MWh sourced from certain geographic locations), how does an RPS administrator evaluate the “success” of a program?  What issues should be examined and what methodologies can be used?

Complimentary Policies: Supporting Higher Cost and Emerging Technologies
Using feed-in tariffs, RPS carveouts, and other mechanisms to encourage non-least cost resources within an RPS.

Transmission and Renewables
An update on regional planning initiatives, and an exploration of off-shore wind development versus long-distance transmission.

Resource Specification and Interstate Commerce
How RPS laws could protect in-state renewable energy development.

Towards Greater REC Price Transparency
Is a more open exchange possible and whom would it benefit?  What buyers need and how they obtain it.

THE BIG PICTURE
Where the markets are heading, how clean energy fits into climate action and the economic debates.  Future visions welcome.

Power Table

State of the Markets

Additionality and Renewable Energy
Compelling testimony and discussions about how, why, and when renewable energy projects are beyond business as usual.
